Ylana Maya - The everflowing future wife
A Faerie Tale - The River and the Gnome King
One bitter winter morning, the Gnome King made his way to the forest and sat by a grand Oak tree beside the everflowing river... On this day, the Gnome King was in fact fishing for his future wife and well... Quite embarrassingly he mistook the flow of the river for that future wife!
He spoke to his reflection in the waters, he spoke about taking action in the rivers flow... He believed that the flow was why he would find that wife, for much of life was sustained within the flow of a river and he knew his goal and if there was one place he could find his future wife, he knew it would most definitely be within that river...
What he thought to be his future wife that day was actually his fishing wire getting caught under a rock and pushed into place by the flow of the river, he tried to reel her in. Muttering under his breath, "Come on... I've got you... I know I have!"
To the Gnome Kings humble surprise, the fishing wire finally became unhinged from underneath that rock, the King stumbled backwards, almost hitting himself in the face with his rod... he soon discovered there was no future wife at the end of the hook... But so be it... He told himself, "There is no success without failure, I shall come back to this river another day... I'm sure to catch her next time"
He packed up his fishing gear and headed downstream to go over the bridge, back to his little cottage...
Now, the everflowing River had in fact been keenly listening to the Gnome King's incessant rambling whilst he was sat by her side trying to catch himself a wife... "A wife", she thought, "... What a peculiar something to expect to catch in a river".
And so the everflowing River continued to flow as she usually did, but today she spent a lot of that flowing with the memories of the Gnome King replaying within her passing sounds... She had actually discovered great meaning within the words he spoke... Even if his desires were nothing like her own... She heard his passion for taking action on those desires and that was just awe-inspiring... She heard his stories from what he said but also from what he didn't say... This memory made the everflowing river contemplate the essence of storytelling and how she wished to share this story with the friends she had come to know, who swam with her flow...
She wanted to share with the rocks, the trees, the fish, the crocodiles and all the life that swam in her natural flow... She felt like everyone needed to understand the lessons she had learned from listening to this queer little Fae
And so it was on this peculiar, bitter, winters morning the Gnome king pointed the way!
The everflowing River realised her destiny on this day... Her realisation of the importance of sharing stories had helped her see with complete clarity, regardless of all the mineral deposits picked up on her journey, clouding her waters... For it was the Gnome Kings story that had inspired her in her flow... He had inspired her to anticipate where she was flowing, he reminded her of the beauties of the fae folk and the craziness of their conversations... He had shown her that the world, even though she had come so far at that point... The world was still very new and interesting... And this... It pathed the way to the ocean...
She made sure to leave her stories everywhere she went in her flow, she'd erode rock and reshape the lands, she'd destroy bridges when the tides were high and she'd leave evidence for all so that maybe one day, someone could take the profoundness of her stories left behind to encourage them and intrigue them onto their own paths.
