Ylana Maya - Day 2 "Sana"

Day 2

Think of three people in your life. Give your character the hair and laugh of person 1, the face and bedroom of person 2, and the wardrobe and mannerisms of person 3. This is your new protagonist. Feel free to give him or her any other characteristics you'd like. Give us an idea of who your character is by describing only the first 60 seconds of the character's day.

Sana spent the first 10 minutes of her morning fading in and out of consciousness. Restlessly repositioning herself in search of comfort. She spent a further 10 minutes with her eyes closed, contemplating her steps to get out of bed. As this was the ultimate chore for her. When she finally opened her eyes she realised she was lying on her bed upside down… She had always been the fidgety type, never being able to stay comfortable in one place for too long, this was no exception in her sleep. Sana had once woken up, her head on the floor with her body draped from the bed like a sock on a washing line. So really it was a miracle that she was still lying firmly on the bed, almost in a straight line, even if it was upside down it was good going for her.

She looked around her dark, tomb-like room in search of her rustic gothic dresser supporting her Mickey Mouse digital alarm clock. The time displayed was 14:14, much earlier than she expected. Sana was quite the night owl. She earned her living selling paintings of old China Dolls online, a hobby she took up after receiving her first china doll at age 6. This was a hobby best done at night to capture the true freaky essence of the doll which made her paintings so alluring to her customers.
She stretched out where she lay on the bed, clumsily punching the bottom railings just above her head with both her fists. She got this bed specifically for it’s versatile structure - by that I mean she enjoyed indulging in S&M - it was absolutely essential, in her mind; to have railings so she could handcuff any potential sexual ‘victims’ she may have the pleasure of indulging in to the bed.

Once fully stretched she jumped off her bed with energy which appeared to come from nowhere. She looked into the black, vampyr-esque mirror that she bought at a car boot sale about 7 months prior. She thought this a good find, considering she’d paid only £10 for it. She gazed at her reflection. “Yep just as Asian as ever.” It often annoyed her that she did not have a pale, fair complexion like her china dolls. She grabbed her glasses off the bedside cabinet and placed them on her face. She looked again at her reflection, noticing her asymmetric eyes and how her left eye always looked so much angrier than her right. She scoffed at this observation and looked down at her body, she was still wearing her clothes from last night, a baggy brown crop top, with baggy trousers and her bright yellow socks. She liked her earthy colours and enjoyed clothes that felt good to dance in, such as, harem pants and tops with sleeves which dangled from her arms.
